It’s been an inspiring few weeks in the studio, and the progress we’ve made on our upcoming projects has been nothing short of magical. With the vinyl LP release set for Christmas 2025, everything feels like it’s falling into place. But this update isn’t just about the technical work—it’s about the heart and soul behind the sound we’re creating, especially with our latest single, Journey.
Let’s start with a studio session that really set the tone for the kind of atmosphere we want to evoke in this new track. I worked again with my go-to producer and sound engineer, Clockright Studio’s own Jason Richard, to remaster yet another track for the upcoming LP. Every time we collaborate, I feel like we’re channeling something otherworldly. Jason has a fantastic ear for sound, and I can’t wait for you to hear the final product.
Next up, I had the pleasure of working again with the phenomenal Rachel Fuhrer on drums for Journey. This song is unlike anything we’ve done before—it’s more psychedelic and ethereal in nature, a blend of dreamy soundscapes and introspective lyrics. It’s not a song built on a groove; rather, it’s an exploration of percussive space. Rachel’s drumming style really helped bring this vision to life, adding layers that feel like you are traveling through the air, soft yet powerful. There’s a hypnotic element to her playing that complements the song’s dreamy vibe.
And then, we brought in the brilliant Tom Crail to play the upright bass. Now, this wasn’t just any upright bass line. Tom used a bow to give the song a deeper, cello-like sound that feels both haunting and soothing at the same time. The steady low D base layer effect was just perfect—it gave Journey this sense of mystery, like the music was floating in a dream, never quite anchored to the earth, but still so connected to it.
Speaking of Journey, I’m thrilled to announce that the song is set for worldwide release on April 22, 2025—Earth Day! This felt like the perfect moment to share this track with the world. The song is about connection—our relationship with the earth, with each other, and with the universe around us. It’s a song that speaks to the desire for peace of mind and the realization that we are all one, all connected. The lyrics reflect this deep introspection, from the yearning to fly like the birds to the understanding that everything, from the soil beneath our feet to the sky above, is part of a greater whole. Journey is a meditation on that connection, and I can’t wait for you to hear it.
But the creativity didn’t stop there. I had a reunion with Ray Martinez and Curtis Edwards, two of my favorite collaborators. Ray came in from Houston, and Curtis from El Paso. Recall that Curtis was one of the original members of SoulePhix. They joined me for a long weekend of rehearsals and creative brainstorming. We shared ideas, worked through some new sounds, and just enjoyed being together. We were also able to share a fun treat with the fans: a remake of The Doors’ Light My Fire, recorded in silhouette under the moonlight. We posted the video, along with a few behind-the-scenes practice clips, just to give everyone a taste of the magic happening in the studio.
So, as we move forward with Journey and the rest of the projects on the horizon, I just want to thank all of you for continuing to support us. The road ahead is long, but it’s one I’m excited to walk—and sing—alongside all of you. Let’s keep this journey going, together. After all, Earth is our home, and she’s been turning for a long, long, long, long time.
Stay tuned. More to come soon.
